Born
in Berkeley, California, in 1949, Stephen McMillan received a
BFA from the University of California, Santa Cruz and also studied
at Hornesy College of Art in London, England. His photo-realistic
aquatint etchings are drawn freehand from photographs he takes.
His images reflect travels to Finland, Australia, New Zealand
& Nepal as well as his native California and the American
West in general. As artist in residence at Kala Institute in Berkeley
1979 to 1992 he taught printmaking and wrote three technical articles
on aquatint etching.
